Cult 45 "On High"

We may have just stopped doing traditional postings in favor of Podcasts & Facebook feeds over here at Boston Bloghead, but the latest album "On High" by Cult 45 is too good to not give it a proper review and release party promotion. That's right! The release party show is tonight at Radio Somerville and Cult 45 is sending their new album out right with support by Chelsea on Fire, White Dynomite and a special set by Slim Lizzy paying tribute to ex-Thin Lizzy frontman Phil Lynott!

"On High" is the first great album to come out in the Boston scene for 2013 and in my opinion, one of the top Rock albums for the region over the past few years. This album slams you with power right from the opening riffs of "Back to the Grave" and carries through straight to it's triumphant close with "Maybe It's You". The rhythm and song structure of this album mirrors the awesome hard rock style's of the late 70's greats while bringing a smooth bit of blues and soul into the mix. The amalgamation of tracks which makes up "On High" is simply put -a collection of music that sounds just as it is- written by a group of amazingly talented veteran Bostonian rockers. Beautifully placed hooks augmented with ripping guitar solos and heavy hitting drums & bass via the solid rhythm section paves the way for a powerful and catchy set of lyrics that really drive the album into the upper tier.

The latest line-up featuring Bob (bass), Tai (vocals), Jeff (guitar) & Pepe (drums) have outdone themselves with this release, which definitely comes with everything one could hope for in a rock album. The years of experience through various local-acts has made this group one of the tightest laid bands around, both on-stage and off. To quote track five of the album, "You Ain't Seen Nothin Yet", so get out to the show tonight and check out how awesome the band is live for yourself.
